I tailor each treatment to the individual client, starting with an assessment. I listen to the client’s input on pain, tension, observations etc. I then apply techniques depending on the type of tightness. Client feedback is essential during and after the session.

My approach to Soft Tissue Treatment:
I tailor each treatment to the individual client. I begin with an assessment, as I listen to the clients input on pain, tension, observations etc. I apply techniques depending on the type of tightness. Client feedback is essential during and after the session.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue Massage helps relieve severe tension in the whole bodies deeper layers of muscle, the connective tissue or fascia. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience chronic pain, are involved in sports, such as athletes, and clients who have sustained physical injury. Deep tissue massage may include some stretching, or range of motion exercises and structural balancing. This helps to unwind the tension residing in your body’s myofascial system, restoring it to its natural balance, alignment, length, and ease. Deep tissue massage also focuses on trigger points that may be causing local pain or referring pain to other parts of the body, i.e. headaches. This decreases pain, improving posture, strength and range of motion.
Structural Balancing
Each client is assessed with the posture, skeletal and muscular inbalances from patterns set in the body. It only takes 7-21 days for a pattern to set so using myofascial techniques, I ask or take from the tissue depending on the condition of the tissue. Decreasing pain, improving posture, stength and range of motion.
PNF Stretching
Muscles can become weak and short, weak and long, or just short. By using a contract-relax-contract series of movements, the muscle learns a new length.
Myofascial Release (ART is very similar)
Fascia is a thin skin around muscles, bones and organs. This tissue can adhere to muscles, bones or fascia itself. By using dynamic myofascial release techniques or sustained myofascial release, we can decrease superficial tension, to achieve a deeper level of treatment, with a decreased pain. You will also have a decreased a feeling of “suffocation” in the muscle tissue, increasing muscle length and/or strength.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are a tight band of tissue that restricts muscle function and therefore inhibits strength and all round performance. I can manually use this technique or use needles if open to this technique.
Dry Needling
Similar to trigger point therapy (see above). I use ‘once only’ acupuncture needles and a sharps container for disposal.
Relaxation
I will be honest, my reputation is based on a firm massage but am able to “cool my jets” a little for a relaxation massage. I encourage you to use the pain scale (see what to expect during the treatment). I also encourage you to check my referral page for other therapists who specialize in other types of massage. I personally have never felt that two pairs of hands ever feel the same. Be a ‘massage tart’ as long as you are feeling the benefits from each therapy.
